PRODUCTION & MANUFACTURING

Porter and Charles has an objective of building only beautifully styled, robust and high performance appliances, and is not a mass volume manufacturer. We focus on assembling each appliance to ensure it will perform perfectly for many years and become something the owner will be proud to own. The emphasis is on hand crafting our appliances and ensuring full attention to detail. We engage the latest technologies, transferring this data to a range of computer controlled laser cutting and forming machinery to ensure absolute accuracy of all metal parts leading to an outstanding finish.

In addition we employ the latest automated enameling processes to ensure an even coverage of our sophisticated Steam Clean enamel. This includes processes of cleaning materials before application of enamel ground coats and finish coats guaranteeing a long life for oven liners.

We use laser engraving for all graphics because this is long lasting – and will not wipe away like traditional ink etching. Control panel graphics will remain readable for the life of the product. Simply wipe the control panels over from time to time with standard stainless cleaner for maintenance.

All ovens and cooktops are progressively checked by sophisticated electronic testing for adherence to electrical configuration. The latest mega-check electrical test procedures are used during and post assembly of every product that bears a Porter and Charles name. Every product also comes complete with a check procedure sign off as the appliance moves through the stages of assembly giving you full piece of mind. All gas appliances are also put through exhaustive electrical and gas leak testing procedures to guarantee safety and again a check procedure sign off is included with each gas product.

To ensure our products travel to the consumer in good condition we have used extensive protective packaging and including substantial styrene buffers and plastic covering for stainless parts.

OVEN DOOR TEMPERATURE
Because of the Porter & Charles approach to the oven temperature control, we are able to obtain extremely low outer oven temperatures. These temperatures are established after subjecting the oven to considerably higher temperatures than those experienced during normal cooking session. For example: these ovens were tested at 220° for a period of over 2 hours – well above the industry standard for testing.

These low temperatures are achieved because of:

• Double Insulation
• Heat Reflective Inner Door Glass
• Triple Glazed Doors
• Vacuum escape of heated air from between the inner door glass which is activated by the cooling fan
OVEN DOOR ASSEMBLY
Porter & Charles ovens are equipped with the latest technology in door ventilation and assembly mechanisms. This ensures that the use of the oven, including cleaning and maintenance, is easy and trouble-free. Note we are using double and triple glazed doors with all inner door glass featuring the latest technology heat reflective characteristics insuring minimal heat loss from the oven compartment.

In addition, to keep the door cool, we engage multiple door glass combined with forced vacuum release of warmed air from between glass layers. This is activated by the tangential cooling fan which propels air through the front vents of the oven, collecting warmed air from between glass layers rising to escape through the top vents in the oven door. This is then propelled through the front vent of the oven.
WARMING DRAWERS AND SABBATH MODE

The warming drawer and warming element of the main oven heats continuously until it reaches approximately 75°C/170°F. This temperature will be maintained throughout the warming process as required and for prolonged periods. This infers that the elements are not cycling as dictated in Sabbath requirements.
Awareness of and attention to the requirements of a clientele which looks to the future. This is one of the inspirational elements we bear in mind when making new products.
